Headjoints: Made for Professionals by a Professional

Each flutist has their own ideas about the sound and playing characteristics of their headjoint. Among players differences in breath control and embouchure technique can be significant.
That is why DE BOER headjoints are not produced in series, but as individual pieces, each reflecting a unique design concept. In the realization of these concepts, all components are built with precisely calculated dimensions using state-of-the-art technologies such as CAD, 3D printing, laser processing, and precision casting.

The parts are then soldered together, and the embouchure hole is meticulously reworked by hand. This process requires exceptional craftsmanship, since the character of a headjoint changes with the slightest removal of material. Subtle modifications are continuously made to fine-tune the flute's playing and tonal qualities until optimal results are achieved.
DE BOER FLUTES brings the experience and expertise of a professional orchestral flutist, providing a decisive advantage during this phase of production.

The base model is made of 925 sterling silver with a 0.42 mm tube. All components — riser, lip plate, tube, and crown — can also be made of 9- or 14-karat gold and assembled in any combination.
To ensure the best possible intonation for each instrument, DE BOER headjoints are available with three different tube geometries. These differ in the taper of the tube and are designed to match the scales of renowned flute manufacturers.
